Best Shark Steam Cleaner Reviews of 2017

The Shark Genius S5003D Steam Pocket Mop System is a Shark steam cleaner that looks like any other steam mop you might find nowadays but it is actually a unit that has a few unique and innovative design features that make it quite easy to use around the house. Which is why I couldn’t wait to try it out and see if it could do a great job on my floors. Here is the result of that review.

One of the first things to catch my eye about this steam mop was its size. It’s a unit that seems to be just the right size for my cleaning needs. It wasn’t too tall, like some units can be, but it also didn’t have me hunched over like some other steam mops have in the past. It was just the right height for me to comfortably move it around the house. And it had a pretty good sized reach thanks to its 22-foot power cord

The next thing to catch my attention is the water tank size. It only held about 11.8-ounces of water. However, I did notice that even though it didn’t hold a lot of water, it wasn’t limited a whole lot by that fact. In other words, I don’t feel like I had to refill it all the time. However, if it would’ve had a bigger tank, then I imagine it would’ve worked even longer, but I think that I’m just being picky.

What I really liked about this steam mop was its head. It had an innovative head that could be used on both sides. But being reversible isn’t the best thing about this feature. It’s the fact that when you flip it over it initiates the “Steam Blaster.” A feature that shoots a big stream of steam directly in front of the mop. This feature not only is great and is easy to use but it’s also quite fun to use. I found myself using it quite a bit as I did my chores. Steam Blaster really powered through some sticky messes – which means I didn’t have to use a lot of elbow grease on them. It was very nice.

Everything considered, I felt like this was a great steam mop. It’s easy to assemble, is lightweight and does a great job of cleaning. Sure, it might not be the best of the best, but it’s still a great steam cleaner that does a great job.

The Shark S3801CO Professional Corded Pocket Mop is a nice looking Shark steam cleaner that weighs about 8.3-pounds and has a nice long 22-foot power cord. At first glance, this steam mop doesn’t look like anything fancy, but after using it a couple of times I’ve noticed that it has a couple of things going for it. Let’s take a look and see how well this unit cleans my home.

When I first received it, the very first thing I noticed was that it was easy to put together. In just a couple of minutes, I had the whole thing assembled and filled with water and ready to go. Of course, I do have some practice putting together multiple steam mops over the past few months, but I still think that this steam mop would be quick to assemble, even if I didn’t have expertise in assembling them.

Getting used to how to operate it took a little time, however. It doesn’t have an On/Off button. And it’s not as easy as just plugging it in either. No, you plug it in and its “Steam Control” light will begin blinking. You then press the button in the center of the unit to select which feature you want to use. You press it once to enter “Dust Mode,” twice for “Mop Mode,” and three times for “Scrub Mode.” A little more thought than I would’ve liked to have put into my daily cleaning, but overall not that hard to learn.

As far as getting the floor clean, it did a great job. It cleaned just about any surface I used it on. It cleaned my tile floors, my linoleum, and even my vinyl floors. I used it on my wood floors as well, but only on the wood floors of mine that were sealed. I never use a steam mop, or any steam cleaner, on an unfinished wood surface. It’s just a bad idea to do so.

If I had one complaint about this particular steam mop, it’s the fact that it’s heavier than some other steam mop models. And even that is kind of being nit-picky. After all, it just weighs a little bit over 8-pounds, so it’s not like it’s all that heavy. It’s just a few pounds heavier than other models, that’s all.

Everything considered I have to say that I really liked this unit. Sure, it’s a little heavier and more expensive than some other models, but it’s still a great steam mop that handles a variety of surfaces.

The Shark Deluxe S3501 Pocket Mop is a Shark steam cleaner that is lightweight, has a telescoping handle and stands about 51-inches tall. While that might not make it the smallest steam mop on the market today, it’s pretty close. And since it’s so small, I thought that it would be easy to use around the house. Of course, first impressions are not always correct as I soon found out.

One of the very first things I noticed about this steam mop was that it looked like a stick mop with a pot belly. However, the portion that looks like its belly is where the water for the unit is stored – all fifteen ounces of it. Which is a pretty good amount of water for any steam mop to hold. And it’s increased water storage did equal some long use times – at least, in my opinion.

This unit also had a nice long power cord that allowed me to reach most of the rooms of my house. Most steam mops nowadays seem to have little stubby power cords. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case with this one. It was long enough to get the job done.

I used this on three distinct floors in my home. I used it on the sealed wood floors of my dining room, the linoleum in my kitchen and the tile in my bathrooms. And I must say that it did a great job on all of those surfaces. Unfortunately, I also had a few issues with it as well.

This unit has a feature called Steam-On-Demand – a feature I think they should rename to Frustration-on-Demand. That’s because it was extremely frustrating to use. In order to activate the steam, you had to compress the handle. While that was easy the first couple of times after awhile it just becomes annoying and tiresome.

I also discovered that its mop pads were a little thick and that made it difficult to get a good blast of steam to the floors. And that, of course, was another source of frustration as I tried to linger on spots to make sure they were sanitized. That just makes cleaning even more tedious than it already is.

Overall, while It was frustrating to use this steam mop on occasion, I do think that it did a good job on my floors and had a few things going for it. Namely the fact that it’s lightweight and less expensive than comparable steam mop models.

The Shark S3973D Lift Away Pro Pocket Mop is a 2-in-1 Shark steam cleaner that not only works like a steam mop but also has a removable handheld steamer that could be used for a variety of different jobs – all above the floor. But more on that later. Let’s see just how well this unit performs in daily cleaning tasks, shall we?

Unpacking it, I noticed that this steam mop came with a triangular mop head, a 3-foot hose, and a garment steaming tool. I also noticed that this whole system weighed almost 14-pounds, which is a bit on the heavy side for a steam mop. And once you fill up the 16.9-ounce water tank on this unit, you can expect it to be a bit heavier.

As far as cleaning floors go, this unit does a really good job. I was able to mop several different surfaces in my home and these included everything from my vinyl floors to my sealed wood floors to my ceramic tile floors. It did all three without problems.

You can set this unit to “Dust Mode,” “Mop Mode,” or “Scrub Mode.” And if you flip the head of the unit while you are cleaning the floors, you can set off the “Steam Blaster,” a feature which fires off a jet of steam to remove heavy stains. And that works pretty well, too. Okay, maybe I’m not quite giving it the credit it deserves. It worked better than pretty well. It did a great job at handling my floors using the appropriate setting.

But what I really want to talk about in this review is the removable hand-held steamer. This thing is pretty ingenious, in my opinion. You just snap it off the main unit and you can use it for a variety of different jobs. You can use it as a garment steamer and you can get the wrinkles out of your drapes. You can also use the 3-foot hose and scrubber head to clean a variety of different surfaces such as walls or maybe the outside of your microwave.

Overall, I think this unit is more than a competent steam mop/hand-held unit. It could clean a variety of different surfaces and it could do it very well. However, what prevents this unit from becoming a top steam cleaner is the fact that it’s kind of heavy and kind of expensive. Otherwise, it would be competing for a higher slot on my list.

The Shark SK460 Steam & Spray Professional is a Shark steam cleaner that has a couple of innovative design features, although you wouldn’t really realize that fact at first glance. It’s only after you start using it do you realize that this thing can do some things other steam mops can’t do. Of course, a steam cleaner being innovative doesn’t mean that it will necessarily be good at what cleaning. The only way to find that out is to put a cleaner through its paces – which is what I did in this review you’re reading. Let’s see what this steam mop can and can’t do.

The first thing I noticed about it after I had assembled it, was that it weighed around 10.6-pounds. While that doesn’t make it the heaviest steam mop I’ve seen, it is quite a bit heavier than many of its competitors. However, while I was using it, I really didn’t notice its extra weight. It did a pretty good job at gliding across the floor.

Another thing I noticed was that it had a 22-foot power cord. Which is comparable with other steam mops on the market today. Having a decent-sized cord just makes it so much easier to reach every corner of my house and I was glad this unit had a nice long cord. You can also detach the power-cord and use it without the steam and with just the spray. This was a convenient feature to have.

This mop allowed you to clean in a number of different ways. It can be set to “Dust Mode” “Mop Mode” or “Scrub Mode.” You can go cordless and just use a cleaning solution with this unit, as I just described, or you can use it in 2 other ways: you can use only steam on the floor or you can use a steam/cleaning solution combination.

While I like the fact that I could use it in a variety of different ways, I felt like this unit’s performance could’ve been better. With what this unit could do with a cleaning & steam solution combination, I have seen other steam mops accomplish with just steam. Which is a shame because I was hoping this features wouldn’t be a gimmick but would enhance this unit’s cleaning capabilities.

The Shark SK460 Steam & Spray Professional is a steam mop that can travel to just about any corner of your home. And while it does an okay job at cleaning, it just doesn’t deliver enough power to justify its price tag.
