Bissell 1132A Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop Review

Today, I’m going to review an all-in-one vacuum and steam mop that’s supposed to make my life a whole lot easier, and it’s called the Bissell 1132A Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop. It’s an all-in-one that’s not cheap but looks like it has a bunch of bells and whistles. So without further adieu, let me tell you the good points and the bad points of this machine.

One of the first things I’ve noticed is this thing was really a snap to put together. It’s literally one step assembly. In fact, from the time I browsed the instructions and then assembled this machine, I think a grand total of 2 minutes had elapsed. That’s pretty good considering it is a full-size upright.

The next thing that I noticed was that it didn’t weigh a whole lot. According to the listing I bought it from on Amazon, the  Bissell 1132A Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop was listed as weighing approximately 14.7 pounds. However, while I didn’t officially weigh it, it does feel a whole lot closer to 10 pounds than it does 15 pounds.

I noticed that when I unpacked it, it came with 4 mop pads. That’s quite a bit and honestly a blessing in disguise. I hate not having enough mop pads to do my cleaning because they are still in the washer. Fortunately, that’s not going to happen with this unit. Nope, Bissell has thought to include 2 soft and 2 scrubby pads. Now I can always have one ready for cleaning.

After I assembled this all-in-one, I put in the 13 ounces of distilled water it needed and started her up. I had a couple of problems putting the lid back on it once I had removed it to put water into the machine, but the second time I tried it, it worked out a lot better.

One thing I really love about this machine is that in under a minute I had steam! After being admittedly impressed, I then took it on a little trip to handle not only the carpet in my living room but also the tile floor in my bathroom. Which I could, thanks to the very long 25-foot cord!

If you’ve never had the chance to use this machine, then let me tell you how it works. It’s basically a cyclonic vacuum and a steam mop. You can use it as a steam mop alone, vacuum alone or a combination of both. I decided to use only the steam mop on my bathroom floor, and then, I used a combination of vacuum and vacuum and steam mop on my living room floor.

The steam mop worked marvelously on my bathroom floor. It heated up nicely and really picked up the dirt. However, it didn’t do a real great job on my grout. Even on hi (it has variable steam control) it didn’t get it clean. It would have been nicer if I was able to adequately get the grout clean, but all things considered, it still did a pretty good job on my bathroom floor.

I then vacuumed half of my living room floor using only the vacuum feature. It did a great job picking up dirt – even compared to my regular vacuum. The next feature I tried out is the steam/vacuum feature. I noticed that while I used this feature the vacuuming wasn’t as consistent as when I used just the vacuum feature. It’s not off by a whole lot, but it’s still something to consider. However, I also noticed that sometimes the steam would drop when I used the steam mop/vacuum function, I noticed that there was a little bit of a drop-off in steam. Not a whole lot, but enough to be concerned. Otherwise, just using the steam mop function, I was able to get a good 15 minutes of steam.

Everything considered I think that the  Bissell 1132A Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop is not only a much-needed time-saver but is also pretty tough on dirt. Aside from the few issues that I mentioned, this all-in-one did a great job tackling the floors in my house. I would definitely recommend it to a friend or family member.
