The BISSELL 94E9T Steam Mop Select is a nice looking steam mop that stands about 25-inches tall and weighs around 5.4-pounds or so. It came with 2 washable mop pads for its triangular head and looks like it is ready for business. Which leaves me with just one question: Is this BISSELL steam cleaner a top notch model or will it disappoint? Fortunately, I reviewed it to answer that very question.
After a little bit of assembly, I decided to press it right into service. Which leads me right into the first thing I like about this steam mop: it has a removable 17-ounce water tank. Yes, that’s right. The water tank is easily removed, so it can be filled. It can then just as easily be returned to the unit. No funnels, no cups. It’s just as easy as you would want it to be.
I then plugged the unit in and made another observation about this steam mop. I noticed that it had a power cord that was about 18-feet long – which is shorter than many other steam mops I had reviewed, although not by a whole lot. Just something I think needs to be mentioned.
Since this machine is so lightweight, it’s easy to push around the house and it does a modestly good job of cleaning floors. I just wouldn’t expect a whole lot out of it. And that’s because when I tried to do heavier messes, like mud on my tile floor, it didn’t rise to the occasion. I had hoped that it would but it didn’t.
Don’t get me wrong. It does a decent job at cleaning, as long as it’s not asked to do too much. I also liked the fact that it had a steam trigger so I could activate steam when I wanted to. I prefer that a lot more than an “always on” steam mop. But that still doesn’t change the fact that this mop just isn’t for big messes. It’s just not.
I’m also not a real big fan of how it feels. It’s not only lightweight but it does kind of have a “cheap” feel to it. I’m just not sure about its durability. I just don’t know how it would hold up over the long-term.
All things considered, I think this steam mop is an inexpensive solution for those looking just to do light cleaning around the house. However, if you’re looking for a cleaner for heavier chores, then I would certainly look elsewhere.
- Has a steam trigger
- Cleans well
- Power cord is shorter than other steam mops
- Short warranty
- Not for heavier cleaning jobs
