Upon initial inspection, the Dupray Home Steam Cleaner is a decent canister cleaner, although I do have to say it tends to be somewhat pricey. However, just looking at its specs it looked like it was going to be a good cleaner, so I ordered one and put it through my paces at my house. Here is the result of those tests.
The first problem I noticed with this unit was that it only had a 14-piece accessory kit. Accessories which included a funnel (always useful), a rectangular floor tool, a window tool, 2 extension tubes, a lance, 2 small nylon brushes, a brass brush and a triangular tool. I was kind of expecting it to come with more accessories, but I suppose you get what you get.
I added water to it and it took about 8-minutes to heat up – which is pretty good for a machine this size. And while it didn’t produce very high-pressure steam, it did produce some super heated steam. Steam that’s around 293-degrees. Now that’s hot! Unfortunately, having steam that hot has a negative effect on how much steam is produced.
While it’s supposed to produce 40-minutes of steam, which is roughly 5 minutes less than what comparable canisters offer, I found it didn’t even produce that much. No, I only got about 25-minutes of super hot steam to use before I had to let it cool down, refill it and then heat it back up. During those 25-minutes, it did do an excellent job at cleaning. I just wish that it produced a little bit more steam.
It is easy to maneuver around the house. It’s pretty lightweight and compact and I had no problem moving it from one end of my house to the next – even taking the time to haul it upstairs. It’s a portable system for sure, despite its flaws.
Taking everything into consideration, I think that it’s a good system that produces super heated steam, I think it’s just a little bit expensive for what it delivers.
