The J-4000 Jiffy is a garment steamer that’s specifically designed for commercial use. It’s a 1500-watt system that features die-cast aluminum housing, a 5.5-foot hose, and a 6-inch wide steam head. As a result, it’s one of the heavier steamers that I’ve tested, weighing approximately 23 pounds.
While it may seem like the extra weight would contribute to this unit being harder to move from one location to the other, but that’s not really the case. This system has wheels that make it easy to move it to where you need it to be. Unfortunately, the hose on this unit is a little heavy as well, which was difficult for me to use at first, but I was eventually able to get the hang of it after some practice.
The thing that’s really important about this steamer, however, is that it really has some power. After heating up for a couple of minutes, this steamer will produce steam for close to 2-hours. And I’m talking about a pretty powerful jet of steam that can power through heavier fabrics. It’s often referred to as a commercial steamer in clothes steamer reviews and after using it, I can clearly see why that’s the case.
I tested it on several different fabrics and I do have to say it really does a marvelous job. With lighter fabrics such as light cotton shirts, it almost instantly knocks out wrinkles. And for heavier fabrics, it just takes a tad longer. I really do have to say that this steamer is a workhorse.
There are only two things which are preventing this unit from being the best clothes steamer. The first thing is its weight and the second thing is its price. While the price of garment steamers fluctuate, this unit always seems to be in the upper price echelons.
After spending quite some time using this product and taking everything into consideration, I really have to say that this is a fine garment steamer for commercial use but maybe less so for ordinary home use. While it isn’t cheap, it is powerful, durable and well built.
