McCulloch MC1275 Canister Steam Cleaner Review
Designed as a portable canister system, the McCulloch MC1275 steam cleaner is a model of steam cleaners that I wanted to get my hands on way before I ever got the chance to do so. I was so excited about it, that when I finally did get it, I tore into the package and immediately began putting it together so I could use it. And trust me, I had quite a few jobs I wanted to test it out on. In only a matter of a few minutes, I had the whole thing assembled and ready to use. That’s when the fun began.
I lined up all of the accessories that came with this canister and took a good look at what I had. It came with eighteen accessories which included a nylon brush, a couple of mop pads, a brass brush, a stick mop head, a squeegee, a tipped jet nozzle and a few other odds and ends. Just from this precursory look, I knew that this canister could clean everything from tile and grout to floors to tougher jobs such as getting grease off of my stove.
I filled it up with water, turned it on and then clocked just how long it took to warm up. By my clock, this steam cleaner was up to operating temperature in about 10-minutes, which is pretty impressive since it holds about 48-ounces of water.
After I had it up and running, I decided to try it out in my bathroom first. I used the squeegee on my shower door and after I was satisfied that job was done to my standards, I then tested it out on my bathroom tile. This cleaner had no problem cleaning my tile to a sparkling shine and even brightened up my grout.
I then proceeded to take this steam canister on a cleaning tour of my home. I used it to clean my sealed hardwood floors and my linoleum floors, I used to clean my greasy stove and I even took it out to clean my BBQ equipment. And all while I was cleaning these surfaces, I still had steam. In fact, the steam lasted about 45-minutes or so, which gave me plenty of time to do all my chores.
One thing that I really liked about this model was that its trigger was easy to push down and had a trigger lock on it. This means that I could lock the trigger to the steam on position and not have to worry about keeping it depressed all of the time.
Of course, not every steam cleaner is perfect and this model certainly isn’t without its drawbacks. One thing that I noticed is that the wand can get really hot during extended use. It wasn’t a big problem with me but I could see how it could be for some people. Other than that small flaw, though I think this is a solid canister that does a good job.
