The McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner is up for review today. It’s a portable steam cleaner that has a whole lot of power. Needless to say, I was really excited to try it out and see what it could do around the house.
The first thing that was evident to me was how easy it was to put together. In just a minute or so, I had it all together and was examining the 18 accessories that came with the unit. Some of the accessories it comes with include a triangular brush, a nylon brush, a brass brush, a squeegee, a fill cup, 2 mop pads, tipped jet nozzle and a stick mop head. It looks like enough accessories to do a wide range of different jobs around the house.
Before I started on my housework, however, I decided to time to see how long it would take to warm up. I filled it with 48 ounces of water. I had to fish out a funnel to do it, though. In about 10 minutes, it was pressurized with a whole lot of steam and ready to take on its first task – which just so happened to be in the kitchen.
I put on the brush attachment and proceeded to clean my stove. It tackled the grease that had accumulated on the sides and bottom drip plate in no time flat. Then I put on the mop head and cleaned my linoleum floor to perfection. After accomplishing this task I decided to take it into the bathroom and see what kind of a job it could do there.
It did a fine job from cleaning out my dreaded tile grout to cleaning the tiles themselves and even squeegeeing my shower door. Since it did such a good job on the kitchen and now, the bathroom, I decided to put it to the real test and use it on my car.
Using its wide range of accessories, I was able to clean my car from fender to fender. I was not only able to steam the carpets, but I was also able to clean the rims and the grease off of the engine block. Each one of these tasks it handled perfectly and with steam that was over 200 degrees, so you know it’s sanitizing at the same time.
Now, I know what you are thinking. How did it do all of that on one tank of water? It did it because this unit delivers about 45 minutes of steam at a time. And it’s variable control, so you can decide how much steam you need at a time.
What’s really impressive, however, about the McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner is the trigger. It’s very easy to depress. And thanks to the trigger lock, you can lock it to keep the steam on all of the time – which let me tell you, really saves your hands.
The only problem I had, other than filling it, was a problem I had with its older brother – the McCulloch MC1385 – and that’s the wand getting overly hot while I was using it. If you’re not careful, I can see how it would be easy to burn yourself, so be sure you take care when using this product.
All things considered, I think the McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner is an excellent mid-price range steam cleaner that does an excellent job cleaning and is very portable. While it’s not perfect, it’s imperfections are slight and are outweighed by how it performs. I would definitely recommend this product to my family or friends.
