McCulloch MC1385 Deluxe Canister Steam System Review (Hardwood)

The McCulloch MC1385 Deluxe Canister Steam System is close to the best steam cleaner for sealed wood floors, at least in my opinion. It not only produces very hot steam but also produces around 2 hours of it. That’s enough to do most anyone’s entire floor. And it does a fantastic job of cleaning sealed wood floors.

However, it also has some drawbacks. One, it can produce high-pressure steam, so you have to be careful using it on your floor and two, the hose can get a little too hot. If you keep those two things in mind, however, you shouldn’t have any problems using this canister to clean your hardwood floors.

What I really love about this system is the mop attachment. It was like combining the best part of a steam mop with the best part of a canister. I could glide over my floors and clean every last inch of it. And since I could turn the steam on and off, I could put precisely the right amount of steam to my floor.

When I was done cleaning my hardwood floors, I noticed that it took quite a long time for this unit to cool down. Which might be an issue with some of you. It wasn’t a big deal for me, but I did have to remember to move the unit off of my wood floors while it was cooling down. That’s because steam can condense in the hose and then leak onto the floor, so it’s better to place it on a surface that can handle a little bit of moisture while you are waiting for it to cool down. Which is about 30 minutes for this particular unit.

A word of caution: I¬†don’t recommend you use it on unsealed wood flooring. If you want to nonetheless¬†always test on a small inconspicuous area before proceeding.
