SKG 1500-Watt Steam Mop And Carpet Cleaner Review
My first thought when I saw the SKG 1500 for the first time, I thought that it looked like just another steam mop. Sure, it had a triangular head and not the rectangular head that most of them do but other than that, it still looked like one in the same. Boy, was I wrong.
The first thing I noticed about it was that it came with several accessories which increased its cleaning range beyond what a typical steam mop would do. The accessories which came with this unit were a cleaning board cloth, window cleaning tool, an extension hose, a garment steamer, a square head cloth and 3 cleaning brushes. With this assortment of accessories, a variety of different surfaces can be cleaned.
Another thing that I really liked about this unit was that it was detachable and could be used as a handheld unit. This meant that I could use it to easily clean tile and grout and other places that can’t normally be reached by a steam mop.
I filled the unit with water and noticed that it was ready to go in under a minute. And the steam it produces was hot enough to sanitize with, so I didn’t have to worry about using chemicals to clean my floors or other household surfaces.
This steamer also has an audio alert system which keeps you informed about the status of the cleaner. While in use, this unit will make a beeping sound at regular intervals to alert you that it is working properly. This beeping sound will become louder the closer it comes to needing to be refilled. After you use it for awhile, you begin to learn exactly at what point the steamer is going to need to be refilled. I like the regular beeping because it reminds me that the unit is still on if I walk away from it to work on something else.
All of these features are nice to have but as they say, the proof is in the pudding. So I decided to run this steamer through a variety of cleaning projects to see how it performed. I cleaned my carpets, my tile and grout, my stove and even the shower doors in my bathroom. For each project, it performed marvelously. It produced intense steam and cleaned the surfaces the way I wanted to clean them.
If there was one complaint I had about this steamer, it’s the fact that this steamer had a triangular head that really isn’t sufficient for cleaning large sections of the floor at one time – it’s kind of small. The swiveling triangular head is good for getting into corners but I wish that the head was a little bit bigger. Other than that, I think this is one of the best steam mops I’ve used.
