Vacmaster 5-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum (VJ507)
This Vacmaster 5-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum is honestly a wet/dry vacuum I had heard too much about it. Sure, I had reviewed a number of different vacs from this manufacturer but I wasn’t too familiar with this particular model so I ordered one and waited for it to arrive. When it did get to my home, I just couldn’t wait to see what it could do.
When I began to use it, I immediately noticed a few things I didn’t like about it. One, it had a rather short power cord – only about 8-feet long. The next thing that I noticed is that I really didn’t like its hose either. Its hose was only about 6-feet long and the diameter of the hose was only around an inch. And as if those two things weren’t bad enough, I then discovered that this unit was only 3-HP. I kind of hoped it would have had more power.
Of course, my entire experience with this wet/dry vac wasn’t bad. It did have a more than decent 5-gallon capacity and it came with a number of accessories which included 3 extension wands, a 10-inch floor squeegee/nozzle, a reusable foam sleeve and a reusable cloth filter. Unfortunately, it didn’t have any sort of detail brushes that would have extended its usefulness.
Even though it wasn’t as powerful as I would have liked, I did manage to get it to pick up a variety of different messes. I used it to pick up baby powder, cereal, dirt from a spilled planter, gravel that my husband had tracked in and some spilled soda. For all of those tasks, it did a pretty good job. For bigger tasks, it just couldn’t cut the mustard, however.
Overall, I think this is a decent wet/dry vacuum. Sure, it’s not powerful enough and its hose and power cord was kind of short, but it did do a decent job on small to mid-sized messes. As long as you don’t use it on a mess too big, I think that it would do its job.
